Healing Botanicals From ADK Farm| Perfect for All Ages

As Sandy and her children were born with sensitive skin, the ingredients of ADK products have always been her top concern. Compared to most artificial bug bite soothers, ADK provides you with a 100% natural solution for all ages and skin types. Adirondack Bug Bite Soother Roll-on is featured in its unique formula of essential oil: Witch Hazel, Camphor, Tea Tree, and Peppermint.
How do those plants benefit us herbally?
  1. Witch Hazel is a kindly and safe medicinal plant which can be used externally as well as internally. The leaf bark and twigs are used for a variety of purposes in different ways. Witch hazel usually grows where?  The medicinal properties of the plant can be extracted with an infusion of the bark made much like a tea.  The witch hazel infusion is very astringent and reduces inflammation and bleeding when applied topically.  Witch hazel’s healing magic comes from chemicals called tannins which are released when the infusion is made. The infusion is astringent and not only cooling but also reduces the inflammation of an insect bite that causes redness, swelling and itching. So, as you can see…witch hazel is a great base from which to build a kick ass bite soother!
  2. Camphor is made from the bark and wood of the camphor tree. There is also synthetic camphor which is safer than natural camphor which can be toxic if taken internally. In either case camphor is a powerful pain reliever when used topically and it will also reduce swelling. So camphor is a great and effective team player in our bug bite soother formula!
  3. Tea tree oil is also known as melaleuca oil. It is an essential oil with a fresh camphoraceous odor and a color that can range from pale yellow to clear.  It is made by steaming the leaves of the Australian tea tree, when used topically tea tree oil is antibacterial and anti-fungal. It is also used to treat acne, athletes foot, nail fungus and is especially good for bug bites! This is another winning team member of our unique and natural formula for Bug Bite soother! If the hungry bug that bit you was carrying any bacteria…then tea tree will step in and help sanitize your bite!
  4. Peppermint essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the peppermint plant which is grown and distilled in all regions of the world. It has a distinctive scent that almost everyone in the world can recognize due to its popularity in teas, candy and toothpaste. The chemical components of mint oil  are menthol and menthone. They help make the bug bite soother cooling and refreshing and they pair well with tea tree for making a very pleasing scent you will love using!

I use this when camping or when having camp fires. The little ones always get bitten by those big Adirondack mosquitos which you think might just carry someone off and this is a good way to patch them up and get them back to frolicking in the woods
